Im August 2008 ist der erste Tag von Ihrem neuem Leben, der Beginn ihres Experiments. Dauer: offen. „Zu meinem Bart zu stehen – zu mir zu stehen … Einfach sein wie ich bin“, notiert sie an diesem Tag in ihrem Blog, „das ist die Zukunft.“
Die Vergangenheit, das sind 23 Jahre. In denen hat Sie versucht, die Härchen in ihrem Gesicht loszuwerden, hat epiliert, gewachst, verödet. Schmerzhaft war jede der Methoden gewesen, längerfristig zufrieden stellend keine.
Bis heute gibt es keine medizinische Erklärung für ihren Bartwuchs. Zwar stellten die Ärzte einen leicht erhöhten Testosteronwert bei Ihr fest, aber da die 45-Jährige weder an anderen für männliche Behaarung typischen Körperpartien wie Bauch oder Oberschenkelinnenseiten noch sonst irgendwie stärker behaart ist, scheiden sowohl Hirsutismus als auch Hypertrichosis als Ursache aus.
Als Sie sich im vergangenen Sommer nach langem Nachdenken entscheidet, die Haare in ihrem Gesicht wachsen zu lassen, tut sie das auch, weil sie das Gefühl hat, „der Bart zeigt mir den Weg zu mir. … Das wo ich mit Bart nicht hinpasse, das passt auch nicht zu mir, denn der Bart ist Teil von mir”, bloggt sie.
Ihre Erlebnisse und Gedanken als bärtige Frau zu veröffentlichen, sind ihr wichtig. Auf der Seite ihres Blogs lädt Sie auch immer wieder Selbstporträts hoch. Auf diese Weise hat sich ihr Sohn, der zurzeit in Portugal lebt, langsam an ihr neues Aussehen gewöhnen können. Trotzdem: Als er sie Weihnachten getroffen habe, erzählt er, wäre die Veränderung doch ziemlich groß gewesen. Aber Probleme, sich mit seiner bärtigen Mutter zu zeigen, nein, die habe er nicht gehabt.
Nur Sie selbst fällt es hin und wieder schwer, sich in der Öffentlichkeit zu bewegen: Zu heftig ist manchmal die Ablehnung der Menschen. Und obwohl sie es schon als abgebrochene Lehramtsreferendariarin nicht immer einfach hatte, einen Job zu finden – als Frau mit Bart ist es ungleich schwieriger. Mal hilft sie in der Küche von Restaurants, mal betreut sie Kinder, mal macht sie Näharbeiten. Viel verdient sie nicht damit, aber es reicht meistens.

The NYRR uses a lottery system for the NYC marathon and half-marathon, two races that sell out every year. They give everyone a chance to register during a pretty wide open window before holding a lottery a week or so later. If you get rejected two years in a row, you have a guaranteed spot in year 3. I think something like that could work. You could weight the lottery to favor local or faster runners, too.

I dont believe the Friends group has any website as of yet and based on how it is structured (under the auspices of a philanthropic fund), Im not certain if they are in a position to release details until everything has been properly audited. At the same time, one of the founding members of the Friends group did post a lengthy comment to a separate Adaptistration article on January 23rd which conveyed a sense that he was displeased with the respective article. In all fairness, that is nothing but speculation on my part and I havent contacted the Friends group asking about any official results and likely wont simply because the amount of time needed to adequately cover recent events in Columbus doesn’t leave enough time left over in my very limited blogging schedule for detailed follow-up with the Friends group (and that goes for the JAX players and the JSA as well I haven’t contacted either organization for follow-up details as of yet). If an official representative of the Friends group has information from the fundraising event to share, I’ll be happy to share it (as is provided for in Adaptistration’s About section) and I encourage them to post a comment at any time.
not sure if this one was the best (certainly top 5 in my book), but theres no way Montana-to-Taylor was number one. That was a pretty boring game with a spectacular final drive, not an all-time classic. Giants victories last year and 90 were the best I can recall, and thats saying a lot considering I hate the Giants!

The legal rights GIVEN can be taken away at any time because they are not rights. The the bennies/privileges are mostly in relation to tax codes that are illegal anyway. A constitutional government has no business in the issue of marriage.
