Tokio – Der weltgrößte Autobauer Toyota steht vor der größten Rückrufaktion seiner Unternehmensgeschichte.
Wie ein Sprecher des Konzerns mitteilte, müssen in den USA rund 3,8 Millionen Wagen zur Überprüfung in die Werkstätten zurückbeordert werden.
Betroffen sind acht Modelle, fünf Toyota und drei Lexus.
Hintergrund der Rückruf-Aktion ist ein tödlicher Unfall im US-Bundesstaat Kalifornien.
Unfallursache soll eine lose Fußmatte gewesen sein, die sich mit dem Gaspedal verhakt hatte, dadurch war die Geschwindigkeit nicht mehr zu drosseln.
Toyota forderte seine Kunden auf, die Fußmatten im Bereich des Gaspedals zu entfernen.
